ARIES ActionTrac™ boards are the next generation of power running boards. These side steps are unique from other power step designs because they feature a patented step-within-a-step™. They are equipped with a control module for safe, smooth, automated operation; they feature a no-splice and no-drill bracket installation; and they feature weather-resistant, powder-coated aluminum construction assembled right here in the USA.

ActionTrac™ powered running boards feature an innovative, patented step-within-a-step™ design for your offroad ride. The main housing has an integrated, non-skid stepping surface along the top edge and contours to the vehicle's rocker panels for a sleek, aftermarket look. When the door opens, the control module automatically deploys the 3" wide power step, offering an 8" drop from the 4" wide top step and up to 15" from the doorsill, depending on the application. The two steps combined make ActionTrac™ the perfect lifted truck steps, offering safer, easier entry and exit from the vehicle, particularly on larger Jeeps or trucks. They're also ideal for families with younger children and for elderly passengers. When the door closes again, the power step retracts to be safely concealed within the housing.

The control module of ActionTrac™ lifted truck steps automatically detects any obstructions during operation. This eliminates pinch hazards and avoids damage to the steps out on the trails. The power steps are also set with a two-second delay to avoid retracting too quickly after the door closes. For added safety and visibility, each set of power running boards is equipped with integrated LED lights that illuminate the power side steps upon opening.

Another unique advantage of ActionTrac™ running boards is their ease of installation. Each set of these power running boards is designed for vehicle-specific application, and they mount using pre-existing holes in the vehicle. This eliminates the need for drilling holes for the brackets and aligning the running boards during the installation process and significantly cuts down on installation time. This particular set of ActionTrac™ running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon (see application information to verify fitment with your vehicle).

ActionTrac™ powered running boards are engineered for off-roading. They are constructed with extruded 6061-T6 aluminum, making them lightweight, non-corrosive and very durable. They also feature a carbide black powder coat finish to maximize corrosion resistance. This enhanced construction, together with the contoured design of the running boards, provides extra protection for the sides of the vehicle from small rocks and other debris that might scratch or mar the vehicle's finish.

ActionTrac™ retractable running boards operate with a single rotary motor to ensure quiet, reliable, long-lasting, maintenance-free operation. The motor, pivot points and all electrical components are shielded within the main housing, further protecting them from the elements. Each set of running boards comes with a limited lifetime warranty and is assembled right here in the USA for the utmost quality.

These GMC / Chevy running boards come with mounting brackets and all necessary hardware and wiring for a complete installation.

Look Great but i have my reservations...

I installed these on my 2018 Colorado ZR2 in about 7 hours working in wet and mud rather unfun conditions all around.

One of the big hangups is that the instructions that came with the parts was conflicting with the instructions online so that led to some trial and error that required removal and install of the middle bracket considering this is more less a universal kit so there are choose your own adventure holes...

For crew cab mount the middle bracket nearest to the rear favoring the forward most mounting position on the bracket itself. Otherwise if you choose the forward position or mount the bracket will not sit flush and you will waste time trying to seat the rail properly.

If there is twist in the rail this will stop the motor from functioning due to friction. Getting proper alignment is a real PITA for a one man in mud job since the brackets have a single vertical and horizontal mount point using the factory locations, if one possibly drilled and riv nutted the other side of the mount to get a true level and even mount that would help but of course be more work for install. So hang everything with some slop and evenly tighten everything to line up right, yea its a pain and not fun in mud but a job worth doing is worth doing right.

For my 2018 ZR2 Colorado i drilled 2 new 1" holes to accommodate the wiring. There are 2 plastic plugs but they are inboard the cab enough to be a pain. The driver side especially since its directly above tank components, the passenger side would be easy enough but with supplied grommets i made the decision to make the same hole on either side for the cables.

I am less than impressed with the "ruggedness" as there is a ton of flex when bouncing on these, i am 155lbs so not a big n heavy fella and you can see the tub of the body flex heavily with a little bounce. That said i dont think these will be the same rock slider quality of frame mounting like other side steps or rails on jeeps. This isn't a rock crawling rig for me but i plan on taking it on trails where its guaranteed to take a hit so well see how it takes them.

The only other issue or maybe issue is just with getting the motors properly aligned on the steps and brackets, I am curious to know what lifetime looks like and how heavily ice will impact them. You can simply hold them closed with your hand and they wont open so i doubt they will open with ice.

Before you burn me with fire on that last comment i want to say that i am pleased with this as if i open my door and I'm on an obstacle the steps will make contact, realize there's an issue and retract without issue. So the motor will not just burn up trying to break ice nor will it attempt to lift your truck off of a rock.

All in all im happy with the final product and cant wait to see what kind of lifetime i can get out of them from overlanding, off-roading, and going to my local REI.
